Osasuna to Celebrate 1979-80 Promotion Team Before Match Against Real Betis

The club asks fans to arrive early at El Sadar to be part of the homage to Pepe Alzate’s team.

Club Atlético Osasuna will honor the team that earned promotion to the Primera División in the 1979-80 season before its match against Real Betis. Members of that historic squad have been invited by the club for the match against the Andalusian side, allowing fans to celebrate them in a ceremony on the pitch. The ceremony is scheduled for 1:48 p.m. local time, just after warm-ups. The club asks fans to arrive early at the stadium.

The team will be led by its coach at the time, Pepe Alzate, who guided Osasuna back to the top flight after 17 years with a dynamic, attacking style of play that remains memorable for fans. The club is honoring his tenure (1979-83) with a retro jersey to be worn by players in the match against Real Betis. This will be the first LaLiga Retro Matchday, with Osasuna paying tribute to a special team.
